Whew — I perked up and promised a lot at the beginning of springtime on this blog! \u00a0Springtime brought a lot with it, and I lost track of keeping this blog more up-to-date. \u00a0It happens. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Summer Solstice, our longest day of the year, is a perfect time, to take a deep breath, and begin (even when it means <\/span>beginning again<\/span><\/a>). \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some Badass Backpack updates since my last post:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Backpacks For Dinner (BFD): \u00a0We have kept our weekly momentum and we\u2019ve had some neat opportunities to stretch. \u00a0Largely, we\u2019re still focused on the same 3 critical paths that I\u2019ve mentioned in the past. \u00a01) Bags. \u00a0We\u2019re working on our next bags! \u00a0That\u2019s wonderful and fun, but also important to mention that we\u2019ve only just recently wrapped up getting \u201cthe First 100\u201d bags (first short run for \u201cSincerity Inside\u201d) completed! \u00a0More on that below. \u00a0\u00a0(2) Website. \u00a0As silly as this might sound: \u00a0we\u2019ve only recently modified our robots.txt file allowing our website to be picked up by the major search engines. \u00a0Why wait so long? \u00a0Partially intentional? \u00a0Partially not? \u00a0\u201cLook deeper\u201d I nudge myself: \u00a0probably Fear. \u00a0This has been a long delay on raising our voice because we\u2019re scared. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42 \u00a0That\u2019s okay. \u00a0Now get over it. \u00a0\u00a0(3) Stretching to find (and step into) our identity for this project, Badass Backpacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

I mentioned in a recent springtime post<\/a> that I\u2019ve had some amazing in person meetups and connections this year — that continues to be the case. \u00a0Thank you to everyone who\u2019s taken the time to meet up with me at a cafe this spring! \u00a0Not long ago, I had a chance to meet up with some AIESECer friends of mine. \u00a0I love what Celeste R. Potter said to me about some of my fits and starts as I stuttered to explain Badass Backpacks. \u00a0\u201cIt sounds to me like\u00a0you need\u00a0to get more comfortable with moving at a slower pace.\u201d \u00a0That astute observation makes me smile. \u00a0So true Celeste! \u00a0And thank you.<\/span><\/p>\n

The First 100 (Sincerity Inside Update):<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Is my math broken? \u00a025 + 25 + 1 + 20 + 20 + 7 = 98 \u00a0\u2190 What the hell happened here? \u00a0As we were pushing through the making process for our First 100 bags, we hit way more speed bumps than we had ever imagined possible. \u00a0The equation there is showing the batch sizes of our First 100 bags — Bags #1-#100 (minus two bags that were lost as a head nod to probability for short run manufacturing defects — sacrificed for a worthy cause, and just barely at a price we can stomach with a grin. \u00a0Lessons learned.) \u00a0As we had started receiving our initial bags in late 2015, readers of this blog already know that we began selling those initial bags right away. \u00a0I had no idea it was going to take us so long to finish receiving the remaining bags. \u00a0They came to us in small batches — and we finally have ALL of the remaining bags! \u00a0This is an exciting moment. \u00a0Having all of the bags means that we need to get focused on selling the remaining bags\u2026 which in a lot of ways — this is where all 3 of our critical paths begin to converge. \u00a0Time to sell more bags, evolve our website, and raise our voice – yes, all at the same time. \u00a0Begin. \u00a0Even if it\u2019s again. \u00a0Begin. <\/span><\/p>\n
